I saw my first picture of alpacas many years ago and decided then that one day I would have some of my own. Little did I know that I would fall in love with these wonderful, endearing, serene creatures.
So, when the opportunity arose in 2006, I jumped straight in making the decision to buy some pregnant females to start my herd.
My mother came with me when I went to choose my first alpacas - wondering what all the fuss was about! Not to be left out, she fell in love with a pretty white pregnant female named Nikita .
And so our family run business of breeding alpacas commenced.
My mother , Beverley Vickery has named her herd SUMMERDALE and I (Caroline Vickery) have named my herd WEALDEN.
Over the last 15 years our herd has grown in size to over 80 alpacas.
Our females have been mated with the best herd sires bringing improved, proven genetics to the herd.
The show teams have had great success at many shows, including the prestigious annual British Alpaca Society National Shows and the World Alpaca Conference, winning numerous colour championships both in halter classes and fleece shows, certifying that our herd includes world class alpacas.
